DANCE TEAM

Dance Team is the group which provides MODSoc with it's identity. Initially, the vision for Dance Team was to provide an elite performance group to represent us and UNSW, however since there would be an overlap in interest with existing crews, the focus shifted towards inclusivity, community and sharing. By offering two sessions per week, we cater to both our members university availabilities as well as to provide a wider range of teachers and styles over the course of the academic period.
Dance Team is a place where commitment isn't mandatory, as we understand students have their personal commitments, however for performances we do require for members to use their own time to practice as well as come to training sessions! This is giving respect to the choreographers and fellow team members who try their best to put on a great show!

FRIENDSHIP JAM

Our annual Friendship Jam is a fun 2v2 battle in which people that have attended dance team regularly can battle! Since most of the sessions at dance team are choreography based, it was introduced to cap out the end of the year for Dance Team as well as to let everyone go a bit wild.

The format was simple, to pair someone who has preferably not battled before (a rookie) to an experienced individual (between 1-3 years of battling experience).

The battle plays out as a normal 2v2, with one little twist! The experienced individual has to battle it out to a restriction picked out of a hat, and it could be anything the organisers have cooked up, from dancing on one leg to acting out a foreign concept during your set. It's loads of fun and every year it's our most anticipated internal event to swing by.

Hope to see everyone next year!
